Agami Education Foundation (AEF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Australia-based Sitara’s Story to strengthen mental health awareness among teachers of Agami-supported schools. The initiative will be implemented in Bangladesh in partnership with the Innovation for Wellbeing Foundation (IWF).
The MoU signing ceremony, held on December 27, marked a significant step toward integrating mental health awareness into the education ecosystem.
The event was attended by Dr. Nehreen Majed, President of AEF; Nafisa Khanam, Vice President of AEF; Dr. Shamaruh Mirza, Founder and President of Sitara’s Story (Australia); Monira Rahman, Founder and Executive Director of Innovation for Wellbeing Foundation; Mirza Sanam, Coordinator of Sitara’s Story Bangladesh Chapter; and Zinnia Afrin, Project Manager of AEF’s Life is Fun program and coordinator of the initiative.
Under this partnership, structured mental health awareness and counselling sessions will be conducted for teachers in Agami-supported schools. The program is funded by Sitara’s Story, which works to promote mental wellbeing among underprivileged communities in Australia and Bangladesh, with on-ground implementation support from IWF in Bangladesh.
The initiative recognizes the critical role teachers play not only in students’ academic development but also in shaping their emotional and psychological wellbeing. By equipping teachers with essential knowledge, tools, and awareness around mental health, the program aims to foster more supportive, empathetic, and emotionally safe learning environments.
Organizers highlighted the growing importance of mental health in today’s fast-paced and high-pressure educational context, emphasizing that nurturing teachers’ wellbeing is key to building resilient classrooms and ensuring the holistic development of students.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment among the partner organizations to wellbeing, education, and long-term social impact, with a vision to create healthier school communities through informed and empowered educators.
