Bengal Foundation is marking Victory Month with a four-day cultural festival, ‘Prane Ano Gaan’, opening December 24 at Bengal Shilpalay in Dhanmondi and running until December 27.
Supported by Dhaka Bank, the festival brings together music, poetry, visual art and crafts, with a focus on celebrating Bangladesh’s cultural roots alongside contemporary artistic expression. Organisers say the initiative reflects Bengal Foundation’s continued commitment to keeping cultural practice accessible and diverse.
Evening performances will take place daily from 5:45 pm on Level 4 of Bengal Shilpalay. The festival will be inaugurated tomorrow at 6:00 pm by Dhaka Bank Chairman Abdul Hai Sarker.
The programme spans patriotic songs, classical and folk music, Rabindra and Nazrul Sangeet, poetry recitation and film songs. Performers over the four days include Mohiuddin Shamim, Bitu Kumar Shil, Kiran Chandra Roy, Supriya Das, Champa Banik, Adity Mohsin, Farzana Wahid Shayan and Tuntun Baul, among others.
Alongside the stage events, visitors can explore Karukotha, a fair showcasing rural handicrafts and artisanal products, running daily from noon at Subir Chowdhury Square. The festival also features a group exhibition titled Onnoshyor, presenting works by 35 artists exploring women’s lived experiences, on display at the Kamrul Hasan Exhibition Gallery from December 24 to January 17.
A hands-on craft workshop, Akash-Kusum, has been arranged for children and adolescents.
All events under Prane Ano Gaan are open to the public.
