Producer Prabir Roy Chowdhury conceived the story for ‘Priyo Name Deko’ around three years ago. Initially, he felt the narrative was better suited to a feature film due to its high budget requirements. However, with rising investment in television dramas, the project is now being brought to the small screen.
The new drama stars Jovan and Tatini, with shooting already underway. The script has been co-written by Ahmed Taukir and Prabir Roy Chowdhury. The production boasts a budget of Tk30 lakh, reflecting the increasing scale of contemporary Bangladeshi drama productions.
Speaking about the project, Chowdhury said that Priya Name Deco will be aired on a private TV channel during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, followed by a release on Sultan Entertainment’s YouTube channel.
He noted that audiences for dramas have grown significantly, and investments in quality storytelling are rising. “We are completing the seven-day shoot with a budget of about three million taka. In cinema, the budget would have been even higher and the shoot would have taken at least fifteen days,” he said.
Actor Jovan highlighted the growth of the industry, recalling a 2017-18 drama he worked on with a budget of just Tk160,000. “Now budgets have crossed 30 lakh. This is a major achievement and a blessing for the entire drama industry,” he added.
Priyo Name Deko is poised to showcase how high-quality production and strong storytelling are transforming Bangladeshi television drama.
