Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) held two awareness workshops on the newly enacted Public Procurement Rules, 2025, aiming to familiarise tenderers and procuring entities with updated compliance requirements and procedures.
The workshops were organised on Wednesday at Ukhiya Upazila and later in Cox’s Bazar district sadar by the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority, according to a press release.
Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority Chief Executive Officer and Secretary SM Moin Uddin Ahmed and Director Shah Eyamin-Ul Islam, a national procurement trainer, attended the sessions. Eyamin delivered detailed presentations outlining the key provisions, innovations and obligations under the new rules.
Participants included local procuring entities and tenderers, with the initiative aimed at strengthening transparency, efficiency and competition in public procurement at the grassroots level, the release said.
In Cox’s Bazar, MA Mannan, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, presided over the session at his office conference room, where the procurement authority’s chief executive attended as chief guest.
He told participants that compliance with the amended Public Procurement Act, 2006 and the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 is mandatory, and described the new rules as critical to ensuring transparency, efficiency and competition in procurement.
At Ukhiya Upazila, the chief executive again attended as chief guest, while Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Kamrul Hossain Chowdhury chaired the session at the Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Bangladesh Centre for Communication Programmes facilitated the workshops as part of the authority’s ongoing effort to expand awareness of the Public Procurement Rules, 2025 across districts and upazilas, reflecting a push to ensure procurement reforms are implemented beyond policy documents and reach even remote regions.
