
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) has won the CFA Institute Research Challenge Bangladesh 2025–26, securing the national title and the right to represent the country in the South Asian sub-regional round.
The champion team, CRC, prevailed at the local final of the globally recognised equity research competition organised by CFA Society Bangladesh, the organiser said in a press release.
The local final and award ceremony were held at a city hotel recently. Team Nexaur from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka finished first runner-up, while Team FMV from Bangladesh University of Professionals placed second runner-up.
The final round was judged by a panel comprising Kazi Monirul Islam, Nazmul Ahsan and S M Rashedul Hasan, the organisers said.
Finalist teams presented detailed equity research on Robi Axiata PLC, the subject company for this year’s competition, and were assessed equally on their written research reports and final presentations.
CFA Society Bangladesh said the winning presentation reflected weeks of rigorous financial modelling, industry and valuation analysis, and strategic insight, helping Bangladesh University of Professionals secure the national crown. The champion team will now compete virtually against leading university teams from South Asian countries in the sub-regional round.
The 2025–26 season in Bangladesh was sponsored by BRAC Bank PLC, with organisers thanking the lender for supporting investment research and financial education.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that allows university students to analyse a listed company as professional analysts, building skills in financial analysis, valuation, report writing and ethics. CFA Institute awards the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and sets professional standards worldwide.
Each year, more than 5,000 students from over 900 universities in more than 90 countries take part, progressing from local and regional rounds to a global final. In Bangladesh, the season included an initial screening, an equity research report stage and a local final featuring the top five teams.
