Daffodil International University (DIU) has officially launched a year-long celebration to mark the completion of 24 years of its journey and its entry into its silver jubilee year.
The formal inauguration of the milestone festivities took place today at the Independence Conference Centre and the Central Field of Daffodil Smart City through a series of 25 planned programmes.
The event commenced with a colourful rally comprising students and teachers from all departments, followed by the national anthem and a flash mob performed by various student clubs to the university’s theme song.
A highlight of the morning was an artistic dance performance titled “Red to Green: DIU Journey,” which illustrated the institution’s core values and commitment to sustainable development.

In his welcome address, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr MR Kabir reflected on the university’s long-standing contributions to education, research, and the nurturing of human values.
Dr Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, reiterated the leadership philosophy that has guided the university since its inception, reaffirming DIU’s commitment to social welfare. The Pro Vice Chancellor concluded the formal session by outlining development plans for the silver jubilee year.
The celebration also served as a platform to recognise the achievements of the Bangladesh Scouts DIU Air Rover Scout Group.
In a historic moment, Emeritus Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman was honoured with the “Roupya Ilish,” the second-highest award of Bangladesh Scouts. This marks the first time an individual from a private university in Bangladesh has received this prestigious distinction.

Additionally, Dr Mohammad Emran Hossain, Member of the DIU Board of Trustees and Secretary of the Air Rover Scout Group, was awarded the Medal of Merit, while Rover Scout Leader Farhana Rahman received the Bar to the Medal of Merit. Three Rover Scouts were also presented with the National Service Award.
The launch concluded with a symbolic torch lighting ceremony to represent continuous progress and an enlightened future, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony for the 24th founding anniversary.
The university plans to continue the silver jubilee celebrations throughout the year with initiatives focused on innovation, research, and social responsibility.
