Eastern University organised a reception for the newly admitted students of the Spring 2026 semester at its permanent campus in Dhaka on Tuesday. The event was held to warmly welcome the new students into the Eastern University family.
The programme was presided over by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, Professor Dr Farid Ahmed Sobhani. Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The special guests included Barrister Safayet Mohammad Raju, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Eastern University, and Dr Badrul Huda Khan, Founder of Modern E-Learning and former Professor at George Washington University, USA.
Advocate Md Abdullah Al Mamun, an alumnus of Eastern University and Additional Public Prosecutor of the Special Tribunal, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, also addressed the gathering as an honourable guest.
In their speeches, the guests urged students to become attentive, ethical, and professionally competent citizens. They further emphasised the vital role of higher education in fostering leadership within society.
During the orientation, the newcomers were introduced to the university’s academic structure, various services, campus life, and club activities. The event also featured speeches from Treasurer Professor Md Shamsul Huda, Registrar Dr Abul Bashar Khan, and the Deans of various schools, including Professor Dr Md Mahfuzur Rahman (Engineering and Technology), ABM Imdadul Haque Khan (Law), Professor Brigadier General Dr AKM Iqbal Azim, ndc, psc, G+ (Retd) (Business Administration), and Dr Shafia Akhter (Arts). Professor Dr Firoz Ahmed, Advisor of the Faculty of Life Sciences, also spoke at the event.
The speakers expressed their gratitude to the guests and faculty, while extending their best wishes for the students’ academic journeys. The reception concluded with a cultural performance presented by the students.
