The pharmaceutical sector of Bangladesh has entered a new phase with the formal launch of the Pharma Microbiologists Forum, Bangladesh, a dedicated platform aimed at addressing the professional needs and challenges of pharmaceutical microbiologists across the country.
The forum has been established with a commitment to support career development, job searching, employment opportunities for unemployed microbiologists, and guideline-based professional discussions, particularly for fresh graduates. As no independent organization previously existed solely for pharmaceutical microbiologists, the initiative has been welcomed as a timely and hopeful step for the profession.
To mark its launch, the forum organized an inaugural Zoom webinar on Thursday, January 8, 2026, bringing together renowned and experienced microbiologists from leading pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh.
The webinar focused on key issues including career prospects for microbiologists in the pharmaceutical industry, the need for industry-oriented university syllabus development, job opportunities in public and private sectors, training and validation requirements, regulatory preparedness, and the challenges faced by fresh graduates entering the pharma industry.
Monojit Kumar Roy, Manager (Microbiology) at Navana Pharma PLC and an alumnus of the University of Dhaka, served as the moderator. As coordinator and convenor of the forum, he played a central role in organizing the session and guiding the discussions.
Distinguished speakers at the webinar included Ms Farzana Latif, Senior Manager, Microbiology Department, Square Pharmaceuticals PLC; Dr Md Ibrahim Khalil, Manager, Microbiology Department, Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Ltd; Md Mostafizur Rahman, Senior Manager, Microbiology Department, ACI Pharmaceuticals Ltd; and Md Mainul Hoque, Central Head of Validation, Opsonin Pharma Ltd.
Representatives from academic institutions also took part, including Md Masidul Islam Mithun from the Microbiology Department of Jessore University of Science and Technology (first batch), Md Imam Ghazzali Shah from PrimeAsia University (first batch), and Mst Kamrun Nahar from Khwaja Yunus Ali University.
Other active members of the forum joined the session online, contributing to a lively and constructive exchange of ideas.

Organizers expressed hope that the Pharma Microbiologists Forum, Bangladesh will play a significant role in strengthening professional collaboration and advancing the pharmaceutical microbiology sector in the years ahead.
