The closing ceremony of the two-day international exhibition titled “Potato Festival 2025”, organized by the Bangladesh Cold Storage Association (BCSA), was held at Hall No. 1 of the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Kuril, Dhaka on Saturday.
The chief guest at the closing ceremony was Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Adviser, Ministry of Commerce.
Special guest was Mahbubur Rahman, secretary, Ministry of Commerce.
The event was presided over by Mostafa Azad Chowdhury Babu, president of BCSA.
Miss Shao, chairwoman of the board, BoHui Group, China; Ishtiak Ahmed, senior vice-president, BCSA; Mohammad Yunus, vice-president, BCSA; directors of the Bangladesh Cold Storage Association, CEO of BCSA, and other distinguished officials.
The Potato Festival 2025 highlighted the multifaceted use of potatoes as food in Bangladesh, action plans for boosting exports, the advancement of modern storage technologies, and the expansion of the potato processing industry.
The event was attended by leading business figures from the agriculture, potato production, cold-chain, and food processing sectors, along with farmers and the general public.
Nearly 500 farmers from across the country participated in this international fair.
On behalf of the farmers, Asaduzzaman, an exemplary farmer from Rangpur, delivered remarks, where he emphasized environmentally friendly modern farming practices and shared insights into his success.
During the ceremony, 10 exemplary farmers from different districts were honored for their outstanding contributions.
A total of 66 local and international organizations participated in this international exhibition, showcasing modern potato cultivation equipment, advanced cold storage technologies, processing and value-addition solutions, export opportunities, cold-chain systems, agricultural machinery, and various potato-based food products.
During the exhibition, international Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings and two expert-led panel sessions were held, focusing on increasing domestic consumption of potatoes, enhancing exports, and strengthening value addition.
Recommendations generated from these panel sessions will be submitted to the relevant government ministries for necessary action.
