Sonargaon University and the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) jointly organised a workshop titled ‘Preparation for Accreditation: Documentation and Evidence’ at the auditorium of Sonargaon University on Wednesday.
The event focused on improving the quality of higher education, making academic activities more effective and professional, and emphasizing the importance of proper documentation and evidence in the accreditation process, according to a press release.
Teachers were provided guidance on the necessary steps for accreditation by answering their various questions, which will help enhance their professional skills.
The chief guest of the workshop was Professor Mesbahuddin Ahmed, chairman of the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC).
Special guest Professor Mohammad Ekramul Islam, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Sonargaon University, was also present, and the event was presided over by BAC’s full-time member Professor SM Kabir.
Other attendees included BAC’s Secretary Professor AKM Munirul Islam, Director Professor Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Sonargaon University’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Bulbul Ahmed, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) Professor Md Mostofa Hossain, Head of the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Professor Khobirul Haque Chowdhury, and various deans, department heads, and faculty members.
The event was presented by Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Business Administration, Md Masud Rana.
The chief guest stated, “Quality assurance means we have certain standards, but they must be continuously improved. At our current stage, we need to enhance the quality of our education. The Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum is designed to develop students into competent and skilled citizens. The true measure of success is how much the students have learned, not just what we have taught them.”
The workshop was organised by BAC and conducted by Sonargaon University in collaboration with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), with financial support from the HEAT Project UGC.
Officials expressed their hope that through this workshop, the university’s educational activities will be strengthened in terms of quality assurance and readiness to meet international standards.
