Prime accused in the brutal murder of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, shooter Faisal and motorbike rider Alamgir, have fled to India, said Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police SN Md Nazrul Islam.
He made the disclosure on Sunday at a press briefing held at the DMP Media Centre.
Nazrul said the accused Faisal and Alamgir illegally entered India through Haluaghat border in Mymensingh before they could be apprehended by law enforcers.
“Two individuals, identified as Putti and her husband, who assisted them in fleeing, have been arrested by Meghalaya Police in India,” he added.
Responding to a question about the motive behind the killing, the DMP official said Osman Hadi had been very vocal and outspoken after 5 August. Those linked with the fallen regime could be behind Hadi’s murder.
He also informed that eleven people have been arrested so far in connection with the case, of whom six have given confessional statements.
According to DMP, the investigation is now at its final stage, and a charge sheet is expected to be submitted within the next seven to ten days.
