A fire broke out at a seven-storey residential building in Uttara, Dhaka, leaving three people dead.
The incident occurred at around 7:50am on Friday. The fire was fully extinguished at around 10am.
At least 13 people were injured in the incident and were taken to hospital, according to Fire Service and Civil Defence sources.
The identities of the victims could not be known as of yet.
Talha Bin Jasim, an official of the Fire Service’s Public Relations Department, said that Fire Service units reached the building on Road No 18 in Sector 13 of Uttara within eight minutes of receiving information about the fire.
The blaze broke out on the second floor of the seven-storey building. Three people were killed after being burned in the fire, while 13 injured persons were taken to Kuwait Maitree Hospital.
Explaining the high number of casualties, Talha Bin Jasim said the apartment contained a large amount of furniture, which caught fire quickly and caused the flames to spread rapidly.
