Several Iranian media outlets have claimed that the largest US radar system, located in Qatar, has been destroyed. Their reports state that the military installation, valued at 110 million dollars, was obliterated in a precise missile strike.
The reports mention that the radar, designated ‘AN/FPS-132’, was deployed at the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. It is known as the largest US radar system in the Gulf region.
Quoting the public relations department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, various Iranian media outlets reported that the radar was capable of detecting targets up to a distance of five thousand kilometers. The system would identify and provide warnings if any missile entered the airspace. The reports claim that the Gulf region benefited from the security provided by this system.
The news also claimed that several Qatari officials have acknowledged the damage to the radar. The radar was installed in 2013, and its primary purpose was to monitor Iran’s missile activities.
