Eight Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinees from Natore and one from Bogura have been permitted to continue this year’s examinations following the intervention of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
The students missed the first day’s Bengali First Paper examination on Thursday due to separate administrative lapses related to form submission and registration errors, officials said.
In Natore’s Lalpur upazila, eight students of Abdulpur Government College were unable to sit for the exam despite having paid their form-filling fees.
According to the ministry, an office assistant, Amit Kumar Sarkar, allegedly collected the fees but failed to deposit them with the Rajshahi Education Board, leaving the students without admit cards.
Following media reports on the incident, the minister directed the Rajshahi Education Board to take immediate corrective measures.
The board later completed the form-filling and related formalities under special arrangements on Friday, enabling the students to appear in the remaining examinations as regular candidates from Saturday.
Police have arrested Amit Kumar Sarkar on charges of embezzling the examination fees.
The minister also instructed law enforcement agencies to take strict legal action, while a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the matter.
In a separate incident, a student from Sariakandi upazila in Bogura also missed Thursday’s examination due to a registration number error made by college authorities, despite completing the form-filling process on time.
After the minister’s intervention, the relevant education board corrected the error and completed the necessary procedures on Friday, allowing the student to sit for the remaining exams as a regular candidate.
