The Election Commission (EC) will hold a preparatory meeting with representatives of various ministries, divisions and authorities today to discuss the upcoming local government elections and the by-election to the vacant Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin will chair the meeting, scheduled to begin at 2:30 pm at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon. Election commissioners will also attend the meeting.
According to a letter signed by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, the meeting has been convened to make preparations for elections to local government institutions and the by-election to the vacant Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
Earlier on Tuesday, EC Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the schedule for the local government elections would be finalised at the meeting.
