An Indian Army contingent consisting of 43 personnel has left for Mongolia to participate in the joint military exercise ‘Nomadic Elephant 2023,’ according to the Ministry of Defence.
This marks the 15th edition of the exercise between India and Mongolia and is scheduled to take place in Ulaanbaatar from July 17 to 31.
The annual training event, ‘Nomadic Elephant,’ fosters positive military relations, exchange of best practices, and development of inter-operability, camaraderie, and friendship between the two armies.
The focus will be on counter-terrorism operations under a United Nations mandate in mountainous terrain.
Participating soldiers from the Mongolian Armed Forces Unit 084 and the Indian Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regiment will engage in endurance training, reflex firing, room intervention, small team tactics, and rock craft training.
The exercise will further strengthen the defense cooperation between India and Mongolia, reflecting their commitment to regional security and cooperation and fostering bilateral relations.
