Staff Reporter: A discussion meeting was held at the Narayanganj Press Club on Wednesday (August 5) to mark the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising. The event was organized by the Narayanganj District and City units of the Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), a partner in BNP’s simultaneous movement.
Kamal Pradhan, Joint Secretary General of the central Bangladesh LDP and Convener of Narayanganj District LDP, attended as the chief guest. The meeting was chaired by District LDP Member Secretary Moktar Hossain.
He noted that two years have passed since the July Mass Uprising and appreciated the Prime Minister’s role, stating that the hopes and expectations of the student-led movement are coming into reality.
He mentioned that complaints have surfaced on social media about certain BNP leaders shielding Awami League allies, accused persons in student murder cases, convicted rapists, and fugitives. He urged the party leadership to take strict organizational action against them.
He pointed out that coalition allies are often given importance only during national elections, demanding proper evaluation at all times.
He stated that a group is using fake Facebook accounts and emails to spread false information against him. Clarifying his legal history, he explained that past cases against him were politically motivated—he has already been acquitted in some, while two remain pending in the higher court.
He concluded by emphasizing the need for strong unity among BNP and its partner parties, advising that rejecting criminals and taking legal action will make the coalition stronger.
