Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has signed agreements with selected researchers to award research fellowships on the Great Liberation War, as part of an initiative led through its Liberation War Research Center.
The agreements were signed on Monday, 12 January at 10am at the Bangladesh Open University campus in Gazipur. The signing followed a directive from Bangladesh Open University Vice-Chancellor A B M Obaidul Islam.
On behalf of the university, agreements with four selected researchers were signed by Registrar Additional Charge Md Anisur Rahman.
Speaking after the ceremony, Md Anisur Rahman said the research by the selected fellows would play an important role in enriching and clarifying the history of the Great Liberation War. He advised the researchers to complete their work on time and to prepare accurate, objective and information-rich reports so that future generations can learn the true history of the Liberation War through scholarly research.
The agreement signing ceremony was chaired by Director of the Liberation War Research Center Rafsan Mahmud. The researchers expressed gratitude to the university authorities for launching the fellowship programme.
Under the agreements, each researcher will receive a fellowship grant of Tk3 lakh to conduct Liberation War–based research over a one-year period.
