Two individuals died and at least eight sustained injuries in a collision between a passenger bus and an easybike at Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf highway on Friday.
Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam confirmed the accident and it occurred in the Natmora Para area of Hnila, Teknaf. The deceased are Saber Miya, an easybike driver and Muntaha.
According to witnesses, a speeding passenger bus struck the easybike with force, resulting in the immediate death of Saber. The collision left the easybike mangled and threw its passengers onto the road.
Police recovered the bodies with the help of local residents and sent them to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Locals allege chronic reckless driving and speeding cause frequent accidents, demanding stricter speed controls and monitoring on the highway.
