
The Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) has secured a significant achievement in the SCImago Institutions Rankings 2026, emerging as the top-ranked (1st) private university in Bangladesh in both the Engineering (overall ranking category) and all subject areas (research category).
According to the rankings, BUBT has been placed 11th among all public and private universities in the country.
Globally, the university ranks 1766 in Engineering and 4598 across all subject areas, reads a press release.
The SCImago evaluation framework assesses institutions based on research performance, innovation output, and societal impact using internationally recognised indicators, including Scopus-indexed publications.
BUBT’s performance in the Engineering category reflects its growing contribution to technological and applied research, while its ranking across all subject areas indicates a consistent, institution-wide focus on high-quality research.
The achievement has been attributed to strategic leadership, institutional planning, and the efforts of faculty members, researchers, and Research Assistants.
The BUBT Research Graduate School (RGS) has played a key role in promoting a research-oriented environment, encouraging publications in reputed journals, and strengthening academic productivity.
Vice Chancellor of BUBT ABM Shawkat Ali, expressed appreciation to Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, Dean of BUBT Research Graduate School, along with all researchers and Research Assistants, for their contributions to the achievement.
He emphasised that such recognition reflects the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance research capacity and global visibility.
