A Sirajganj court has ordered the authorities concerned to publish a notice in newspapers regarding the arrest warrant against Kushtia‑3 lawmaker Mufti Amir Hamza.
Judge Suman Karmakar of the Chowhali Cognisance Court passed the order around 11am on Sunday.
Humayun Kabir, general secretary of the Sirajganj District Lawyers’ Association and plaintiff in the case, confirmed the development.
He said Hamza was scheduled to appear before the court on Sunday but failed to do so.

‘Earlier, an arrest warrant had been issued against him. Today, the court ordered that a notice be published in newspapers,’ he added.

According to case records, a defamation case was filed on 2 April against Hamza for remarks calling Minister for Power and BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku an atheist. That day, the court summoned Hamza to appear on 21 April.
When he failed to appear, the court issued an arrest warrant. As he again did not appear, the court ordered publication of the notice in newspapers.
