Chhayanaut will commemorate the 115th birth anniversary of poet and social activist Sufia Kamal with a special programme of songs and reminiscences in Dhaka on June 20.
Cultural organisation Chhayanaut will commemorate the 115th birth anniversary of its founding president, poet, social activist and cultural icon Sufia Kamal, with a special programme in Dhaka on June 20.
The event will take place at 7pm on Saturday at the Ramesh Chandra Dutta Smriti Milon Kendra of Chhayanaut Sanskriti-Bhaban and will feature songs and reminiscences celebrating Sufia Kamal’s life and legacy.
A number of prominent artistes and cultural personalities are scheduled to participate, including Iffat Ara Dewan, Shaheen Samad, A M M Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury, Khairul Anam Shakil and Rokeya Hasina Neely. They will contribute through musical performances and personal reflections on the celebrated cultural figure.
According to Chhayanaut, the programme has been organised to honour Sufia Kamal’s enduring contributions to Bangladesh’s cultural, literary and social spheres, as well as her longstanding association with the institution.

The event will be open to the public. Audiences will also be able to watch the programme live through Chhayanaut’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Founded in 1961, Chhayanaut is one of Bangladesh’s leading cultural institutions and continues to work towards the promotion of music, the arts and Bengali cultural heritage.
