The authorities of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) have suspended 31 students following incidents of clashes, vandalism, and alleged attacks on teachers on campus.
The decision was confirmed through an official order signed by University Registrar Prof Md Abu Hassan on Friday.
According to the order, a group of more than 100 students entered Shaheed Abrar Fahad Hall around 2pm on Thursday, allegedly carrying locally made weapons and sticks.
The group was reportedly involved in clashes and widespread vandalism inside the hall. Assistant proctors and residential teachers were also allegedly attacked during the incident.

The university administration said 31 students were initially identified based on video footage and eyewitness accounts.

They have been charged under Sections 14 and 15 of the university’s Ordinance of Students Discipline for misconduct, disruption of law and order, and damage to public property.
The suspension decision was taken in line with the 27th meeting of the university’s Housing and Discipline Board and came into immediate effect.
HSTU Proctor Prof Nowshar Uddin said the measure was taken to restore discipline and ensure order on campus.
