
ADUST, Soongsil University, academic collaboration, Bangladesh Korea relations, student exchange, joint research, higher education, MoU, technology education, international cooperationTop officials from Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology (ADUST) in Bangladesh and Soongsil University in South Korea have pledged to enhance academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The commitment was made during a meeting held on Monday in Seoul, according to a press release.
The meeting, led by Shamsul Alam Liton, chairman of the Board of Trustees at Atish Dipankar University, and Yoonjae Lee, president (vice-chancellor) of Soongsil University, focused on fostering deeper ties in education and research.
The meeting was also attended by Young Jin Ahn, director of the Office of International Affairs at Soongsil University, and several other key officials.
Moon Jae-Keun, president of Sol Gateway Corporation and a strategic partner in Korea of Atish Dipankar University, and Lee Won-Hee, director of BANKO under the Agency for Defense Development, participated in the discussions, along with Hwang Jae-Kyu, president of the SME AI Innovation Forum and Adviser to Sol Gateway, and Jang Min-Seok, president of BANKO.
The discussions revolved around collaborative efforts in student and faculty exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, and expanding technology-driven higher education. Both parties underscored the importance of formalizing their partnership through a long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to institutionalise their academic cooperation.
Also present at the meeting were Jungmin Sohn, dean of International Relations at Soongsil University, and Go Dong Uhan, director of the Global Future Education Institute, along with other key officials from both universities.
Founded in 1897 in Pyongyang and later relocated to Seoul after the Korean War, Soongsil University holds the distinction of being the first modern university in South Korea.
Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology, on the other hand, has long focused on developing skilled human resources in technology, innovation, and future-oriented competencies.
The following day, Chairman Shamsul Alam Liton visited SPARKS, a leading private-sector skills development organisation in Seoul.
SPARKS specialises in training young people in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and other advanced technologies, preparing them for high-tech industries.
Both sides expressed mutual interest in collaborating on skills development initiatives in Bangladesh and expressed optimism about expanding this cooperation in the future.
