A specialised training workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS), also known as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), was held at ASA University Bangladesh on Sunday.
The workshop was organised by the university’s Department of Public Health, reads a press release.
The session began at 10am at the IQAC premises on the 5th floor (4th floor) of the university building. The workshop was conducted by an expert medical team from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD).
Under the overall guidance and supervision of NICVD Director Mir Jamal Uddin, a team comprising nine specialised medical trainers and one staff member conducted the training.
The medical delegation was led by Md Toufiqur Rahman, professor of Cardiology at NICVD.

The hands-on training session aimed to equip members of the university community with essential skills to respond effectively to cardiac emergencies.
Participants received training on the institutional techniques required to administer life-saving CPR to individuals experiencing sudden cardiac arrest before professional medical assistance arrives.
The workshop saw enthusiastic participation from deans of various faculties, department chairmen, faculty members, students and administrative staff.
Participants highly appreciated the initiative, noting that such practical health and safety training plays an important role in strengthening emergency preparedness and promoting health awareness within the community.
