Narayanganj City unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held a protest rally calling for strict resistance against any acts of anarchy or terrorism surrounding 15 August , urging activists to hand over any troublemakers to the police.
The rally was organized on Friday (August 14) at 9:00 PM to celebrate the birthday of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and to protest potential unrest on August 15. Starting from the city’s Missionpara area, the rally paraded through Chashara along the main roads and concluded at Mondalpara with a brief gathering.
Addressing the gathering, Narayanganj City BNP Member Secretary Advocate Abu Al Yousuf Khan Tipu called on party activists to stay vigilant in their respective neighborhoods so that no one can disrupt peace or create disorder.
“We will celebrate our leader’s birthday with due respect. No terrorists will be allowed on the streets, and anyone trying to cause trouble will be detained and handed directly to the police,” Tipu stated.
Referring to former Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Osman and Awami League leader Obaidul Quader, Tipu added that those who fled abroad will face public justice if they attempt to return to the country. He prayed for the departed souls of former President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, while urging all levels of party leaders and activists to remain united under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
The protest rally was attended by Narayanganj City BNP Joint Convenor Fateh Mohammad Reza Ripon, Executive Member Dr. Mujibur Rahman, Sadar Upazila BNP President Masud Rana, along with leaders and activists from various ward units and associate organizations.
