A colorful procession (Jasne Julus) was brought out in the city on Wednesday morning to mark the holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, celebrating the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Organized by the Narayanganj District Jasne Julus Eid-e-Miladunnabi Celebration Committee, the rally was led by Ahle Sunnat leader Allama Syed Bahadur Shah Mojaddedi Al Abedi.
The procession commenced in front of the Narayanganj City Corporation building on Wednesday morning (August 26). Chanting Islamic slogans, participants paraded through the city’s key thoroughfares—including the No. 2 Rail Gate area and Chasara—before returning to the starting point for a discussion and special prayers.
Mohammad Sohag, President of the celebration committee, noted that this peaceful procession has been conducted in the city for over 40 to 50 years, continuing seamlessly under the leadership of Bahadur Shah Mojaddedi.
Speakers emphasized solidarity among all Islamic sects. Scholars and students from Sunni, Qawmi, and Alia madrasas joined the event. Sohag reiterated that while organizational identities may differ, love for the Prophet (PBUH) remains a unifying force.
Narayanganj City Corporation Administrator Sakhawat Hossain Khan warned against global anti-Islamic agendas, urging Muslims to stay steadfast in their faith against divisive tactics.
Narayanganj Development Authority Chairman Mashukul Islam Rajib stated that countering disrespect toward Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a fundamental duty for Muslims, stressing that teachings outside the Prophet’s actual ideals should be rejected.
This annual gathering has been held regularly in Narayanganj since Bangladesh gained independence. The event concluded with a special supplication (munajat) seeking peace, prosperity, and welfare for the nation and the global Muslim community (Ummah).
