Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon on Thursday asked officials to introduce an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system for teacher transfers.
He also directed them to speed up administrative services for teachers to ensure greater transparency and efficiency in the secondary education sector.
He issued the directive while addressing an exchange meeting with officials of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) at the directorate’s conference room in Dhaka at 12pm.
The minister attended the meeting as chief guest.
Highlighting persistent complaints over delays, he said “Teachers from different regions should not have to spend long hours at offices to resolve issues related to salaries, allowances, pensions, leave, transfers, training and higher education.”
“Authorities must settle these matters within a fixed timeframe” he said.
Emphasising transparency, the minister instructed officials to take necessary steps to launch an AI-based software system to manage transfer activities and eliminate lobbying in the process.
He also stressed “Automation and digitalisation to make service delivery simpler, faster and more modern.”
He proposed developing a system that would allow service seekers to identify the appropriate desk or official based on the nature of their problem.
He further underscored the need to expand online services.
During the meeting, officials pointed out limitations in the existing online systems and software management.
The minister directed them to resolve the shortcomings promptly and make administrative activities more dynamic and transparent.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Education and DSHE attended the meeting.
