
The government has appointed new vice-chancellors to seven public universities, including Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, Chittagong University and Jagannath University.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the names at a press conference at the ministry on Monday. He also revealed the name of the new University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman.
Dhaka University’s new vice-chancellor is Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, currently serving as VC of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) and a professor of physics at DU.
Professor Md Faridul Islam has been appointed VC of Rajshahi University. Professor Rais Uddin will lead Jagannath University, while Professor Siddiqur Rahman Khan takes charge of Bangladesh Open University.
Professor Md Nurul Islam has been appointed VC of Central University, Professor Md Masud will head Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), and Professor Md Al Forqan will serve as VC of Chittagong University.
Professor Mamun Ahmed, pro-vice-chancellor of Dhaka University, has been named the new UGC chairman.

The education minister said formal notifications regarding the appointments would be issued shortly.
